Hearing Aid Second Opinion

$220 | 60 minutes

Who is it for?

  • Do you already have hearing aids but still miss out or have difficulty hearing?
  • Have you been recommended hearing aids but aren’t sure if they are the best ones for you?
  • Need a second opinion for you or a loved one’s hearing or hearing aids if things could be better?

How can Hear With Me's second opinion appointment help you?

If you would like a second opinion on a recommendation made to you at another clinic, we’d love to help.

At Hear With Me, we believe that people who get hearing aids should be able to get the most out of them.

If you aren’t confident in using your current hearing aids, or with what has been recommended to you by others – we can help.

In this appointment, we explore your listening needs, your hearing levels and (if applicable) assess any current hearing aids .

We begin with a comprehensive hearing assessment, unless you’ve had one completed recently.

We discuss your hearing results with you so you can understand the causes – such as why you might have particular difficulties in some areas and not others, and why some devices might work while others might not.

We explore your lifestyle, goals and listening needs. We find out who and what is important to you. By listening to you, we can make an accurate recommendations for your unique circumstances.

We don’t typically recommend that anyone obtain new hearing aids if your current hearing aid(s) can still be optimised.

But if you need a recommendation regarding the latest hearing aids that can work for you – we can do that with great precision too. A trial of new devices is possible if we cannot optimise your current hearing aids.

Book this appointment appointment to explore your available options and ask questions, so that you can decide what is best for you.

Selection of hearing aids from Signia, Beltone and Oticon

What happens at the appointment?

This appointment is adapted to your individual needs.

It is important for both of us to work with good hearing results as this can greatly influence expectations and outcomes. Therefore, we need your most recent hearing results (within 12 months). If the hearing results were not comprehensive enough, we may have to conduct a new Comprehensive Hearing Assessment

We explore your needs and lifestyle as part of reviewing the suitability of your current hearing aids for your unique circumstances, as we do in our Hearing Solutions Discussion appointments.

If you already have hearing aids, we ask that you bring your hearing aids to your appointment so that we can evaluate them. We typically do not recommend that anyone obtain new hearing aids if your current hearing aid(s) can still be optimised.

If you do not have hearing aids yet, we will explore what you have been recommended to you by others. We could then look to start a hearing aid trial with us if your are interested.

Based on your unique lifestyle, hearing levels and listening needs, we then provide various recommendations that suit you.

We aim to provide you with confidence about your next steps in managing your hearing.

What others have experienced

Gerard has been very patient with my complex hearing problems, trialling different hearing aids and always explaining things incredibly thoroughly and insightfully from his own personal (hearing impairment) and professional experiences, with a great outcome. Polar opposite to the cookie cutter audiologist franchise that I tried a few years ago and who not only failed in terms of a decent hearing aid after taking a considerable amount of money, but disheartened me to the point that I didn’t try again until recently an ENT specialist found that my hearing had deteriorated further. As a medical practitioner of over 40 years experience, I know a good practitioner when I see one. I have no vested interest in recommending Gerard and do not know him personally, but I doubt that you would find a more expert or helpful practitioner.

I am so glad to have found Gerard. He is passionate about finding the best solution for his patients and he has excellent skills in diagnosis, in technology and in communication. Having experienced hearing impairment himself he understood the frustrations I felt with my hearing problems and came up with many helpful suggestions for special situations, in addition to improving my general hearing. I cannot recommend him too highly.
